The Canary Islands has a population that is around 83 percent Spanish or Portuguese and the main language spoken is Spanish. Sugar and bananas are the main crops. The Canary Islands enjoys a wonderful climate that brings back tourists year after year.
Location
The Canary Islands are just off of the northwestern side of Africa. They consist of seven small islands, considered part of Spain, bearing the names of El Hierro, Fuerteventura, Gran Canaria, La Gomera, La Palma, Lanzarote and Tenerife.
Weather
The average temperature each month falls between 64 and 75 degrees Fahrenheit. Rain is more frequent in November and December.
Dining
With a variety of cuisine on Canary Islands, the biggest change remains the time at which to eat. Breakfast is served immediately upon waking. Lunch takes place around two to four in the afternoon with dinner traditionally not before nine at night, though many restaurants open earlier for tourists.
Hotel
Like many tourist locations, there are a variety of hotels with a variety of prices such as Hotel Orquidea-Bahia Feliz. The hotel has cable TV, a mini bar and a safe in each room with ocean views.
Attractions
Along with the sun and surf, the Canary Islands host several unique experiences such as Timanfaya National Park. Visitors can take a tour around the volcano by camel or coach and sample ethnic Canary Island cuisine.
