If you are going to be staying in the area around London Heathrow Airport and you are on a budget, you can find reasonably priced accommodations in both urban and rural settings. While one-star hotels may not have all of the luxury amenities as bigger hotels, you can still find Wi-Fi access, on-site parking and even room service.
The Fusilier Inn
The Fusilier Inn is 8.5 miles from Heathrow in the Sudbury area. It is within walking distance to Wembley Stadium and Wembley Arena. It is near underground subway (or "tube") access, and has on-site parking and a bar. Children are welcome; pets are not. There are double, single and family-size rooms available, with either attached bathrooms or use of shared bathrooms. Room rates are US$49 to $90, though payment in pounds is preferred (as of 2009).

Chiswick At-Home
If you are staying in London for a long period of time, or are just looking for a place to stay that is more "homey" than a traditional hotel, the Chiswick At-Home is a converted Victorian house located just 8.9 miles from Heathrow. The At-Home is a bed and breakfast with laundry and kitchen facilities, as well as an art gallery and a library. There is free street parking and free Wi-Fi available, and families with children can be easily accommodated. Rates for single and double rooms range from US$49 to $99, though payment in pounds is preferred if not using a credit card (as of 2009). The At-Home offers special weekly rates for longer stays, and there is an option to rent the entire house for groups or families.

Rosemead Guest House
Another hotel that is less than 10 miles from Heathrow and is set up for longer stays is the Rosemead Guest House. It offers wireless Internet access, room service, extensive gardens, breakfast service and TV. There is a shared kitchen for all guests, with designated fridge and freezer space, as well as use of laundry facilities, a lounge and a dining room. On-site parking is also available. There are six rooms of varying size. Some come with private bathrooms, while standard single or doubles rooms come with usage of shared facilities. Since the Rosemead is set up for longer stays of over 14 days, rates for shorter stays are higher than those per night for longer stays. These rates range from US$53 to $123, depending on room size and length of stay (as of 2009).

Abbey Hotel
The Abbey Hotel is a little over 10 miles from Heathrow. It is within walking distance to the tube system and the BBC Television Centre. The Abbey offers Internet access, a continental breakfast, private bathrooms, satellite TV and business facilities. There are single, twin and family room sizes available, with rates ranging from US$57 to $123 (as of 2009).
