The Hampton Inn is about 20 minutes from the University of Tulsa.
The Hampton Inn in Tulsa, Oklahoma, is located 10 to 15 minutes outside of the city. It offers the typical Hampton Inn amenities---free breakfast, high-speed Internet and fitness center---but it is unique in the varying rooms it offers. From reasonable-sized rooms to one-bedroom suites, this Hampton Inn offers a rare choice of eight room types. Staff members are extremely accommodating, and they keep the place clean with everything (including computers for guest use) in working order. There is also an outdoor pool that offers areas of shade and sun for lounging.
Wows and Woes
Wows: The one-bedroom suite is the size of an apartment with a kitchen and a tremendous living room.
Woes: There is nothing in the immediate area except for a few other hotels and an Applebee's restaurant. Everything else requires a car ride.
Insider Tips
The Hampton Inn Tulsa is close to the All Star Sports Complex and Bells Amusement Park, so it gets a lot of families. Although it is a ride to the University of Tulsa and the Convention Center, it is a great value that makes it worth the 20- to 30-minute trip for business travelers. Let staff members know if you're there on business; they try to accommodate families and business travelers in separate areas.
Author's Most Memorable Moment
The staff is incredibly friendly. I was there promoting the release of my first book, and the staff members were just as excited as they brought the books and posters up to my room, congratulating me endlessly. During the two weeks I spent there, anything I asked for---whether it was extra hangers in my room or a different flavor of yogurt for breakfast---they would immediately get for me.
Bottom Line
This hotel is an excellent choice for the money, with a large selection of rooms. There were also many choices for breakfast, including waffles and fresh fruit.
