Cape Town in South
Africa is a city teeming with activities for visitors. Adults can enjoy wine tastings, clubbing and luxurious spa treatments. Kids can enjoy outdoor shopping, visiting the aquarium and extreme adventure tours.
Participate in a Wine Tasting
If you are looking for some classy adult fun, head to Fairview, one of the Paarl Wine Farms. Their wine list includes dry whites, dry reds, dessert wines and single vineyard wines. They have two wine tasting options: a Standard Tasting with six wines from their standard range, or the Master Tasting with eight wines, including their Flagship and Single vineyard wines. The farm is on the southwest facing slopes of Paarl Mountain in the Paarl wine district. It is open to the public weekdays from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., as of 2009. They close later on Saturdays and open later on Sundays and are open all holidays except New Years Day, Good Friday and Christmas. Fairview is located at: Suid-Agter-Paarl Road, Suider-Paarl 7646, South Africa. Information can be reached at: 011 (+27) 21 863 2450.
Pamper Yourself at the Spa
If you want to spend a day pampering yourself after sightseeing and shopping, try the Angsana Spa at the Vineyard Hotel. They offer several different types of massages such as a body massage or Ayurvedic massage. They also have steam baths, rain showers, facials and body polish services. Rates are dependent upon the package of services that you chose to participate in, and specials are often available if you call and ask. Angsana Spa is located at: Vineyard Hotel & Spa, Colinton Rd, Newlands, 7700, Cape Town. Information and reservations can be found at: 011 (+27) 21 674 5004.
Take an Adventure Tour
If you are feeling like an adventurous outdoor tour of the area surrounding Cape Town, try one of Chelsea Morning's "Discovery 4x4 Tours." These are sightseeing tours aboard a four-wheel drive vehicle such as a Land Rover. They have several different tour options that go to a variety of places, such as the Atlantis Sand Dune Half Day tour with a drive through the dunes, or the Cape Peninsula Round Trip One Day tour that includes a boat ride and a visit to a pub, as well as visiting sights in the Cape Peninsula area. They also offer wine tours, whale watching tours and garden tours, and they have an option to create your own tour based around the sights you would like to see. Rates are dependent on how many people you take on the tour with you, which tour you choose, and whether you choose the basic or luxury (includes expenses such as lunch fees, entrance fees, and hotel fees as necessary) option for your tour. Tour groups are picked up from several locations around the area and dropped off in various locations as well. Reservations and information can be found at: 011 (+27) 21 422 3108, or by email at rsachelsea@iburst.co.za.
Visit the Aquarium
If you would like to take in some of the marine life in the Cape Town area from the comfort of an indoor setting, then try the Two Oceans Aquarium. It is open every day from 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. They have exhibits of sea life from the Indian Ocean and the Atlantic Ocean, as well as a predator exhibit and an exhibit from the Sappi River. Aside from the underwater and animal exhibits, the aquarium offers an onsite restaurant called the Shoreline Café. The Shoreline serves a wide range of foods and also has a children's play area. Rates to visit the aquarium differ for children, adults and students, they are charged in the currency of South Africa and they will go to new rates as of August 2009.
