Africa, comprises granite boulders, from which it got its name. The beach is in the Cape Peninsula and is close to Simon's Town, which is going toward Cape Point. It is a popular tourist destination because it has been the home of an African penguins colony since 1982. Boulder Beach is one part of the massive Table Mountain National Park.

The restaurant has an Australian international chef who specializes in gourmet dishes including seared duck breast, vegetarian risotto, seafood bouillabaisse, sauteed tiger shrimp, char-grilled ostrich fillet and scented jasmine rice. There is also a special menu for children available.

Swimming With Penguins
Boulders Beach is not only excellent for observing African penguins in their natural habitat, but also for swimming alongside them. It is not uncommon to find a penguin lounging around on a person's beach towel at Boulders Beach. There is a small, public beach that is separated from the penguin colony (of Foxy Beach). However, penguins often cross through.

There are more than 3,000 African penguins residing at Foxy Beach in Boulders Beach. Countless tourists head to Boulders Beach to be able to observe African penguins from just feet away. Visitors can watch penguins doing everything from eating, diving, preening and even mating.
