The Best Time of the Year for an African Safari

Going on an African safari is like going back to nature. Its exotic wildlife and birds and picturesque scenes can mesmerize you. To admire and get the best out of an African safari you should visit Africa at the right time. This would depend on whether you want to check out the wildlife, go bird watching, take in the rich beauty of the country or just engage in enjoyable activities like kayaking and horseback riding. It would also depend on which part of the country you would be planning to visit as the weather in both North and South Africa differs.
Tanzania

In Tanzania, February and March are the best months to watch migrating birds. From June to November, the weather is dry and it's the perfect time to visit parks and see the animals when they gather at water holes.

Kenya

The Mara plains from July through October, are magnificent. At this time you will see the long migration of large herds, as well as their predators following behind. Also from January through March, you will see large gatherings of animals around water holes.

Namibia

The dry season, from May until September, is the time to watch the wildlife at Etosha National Park. At other times birding and blooming flowers present a beautiful sight.

Zambia

Smaller migrations of animals, including elephants, buffaloes and zebras, can be found in October. The Victoria Falls are also very impressive after the rains, the period of time when the Zambezi River floods. This usually occurs between February and May.

South Africa

Kruger National Park, between June and September, is ideal to watch wildlife. South Africa is better developed, so the rain will not hinder your activity. The Eastern Cape region also provides an exotic game area.
