Oasis Palm Beach Resort and Spa in Cancun Review
The Oasis Palm beach and Spa is an all-inclusive beachfront resort situated near the popular shops and entertainment clubs of Cancun, Mexico.
The region where this resort is located has historically been a desirable Mexican destination for people around the world. Cancun beaches stretch for miles and are considered some of the best in the world. The beaches surrounding the resort are also perfect for small children, which makes it a great family destination. The resort is located about 25 minutes from the airport, so bus or taxi fares are relatively cheap.
Features at the resort include 470 rooms, seven restaurants and a beach with cover from the sun available. The resort pool, which faces the ocean, is serpentine shaped. The property also includes lush gardens.
Insider Tips

Stick to your guns if the resort staff attempts to give you a cheaper room with less of an ocean view - unless, of course you don't mind giving up the view for a lower-priced room.

Make sure the room you have is in working condition (AC, stove, refrigerator). If not, request another room.

In many rooms, the windows do not open. If that is a problem, ask the desk person about switching to a room with windows that do.

While the resort indicates it is "near" the entertainment district, it is not within walking distance.

Pros and Cons

Tap water in most Mexican destinations, including this one, is not fit for consumption by the average traveler. It can often lead to diarrhea (or worse) and can ruin a perfectly good few days of vacation. Stick to bottled water, avoid ice (unless it is made from filtered water) and steer clear of most vegetables. Hotel staff will be able to fully educate any traveler on water clarity. Note that the resort may charge up to $3 for a single bottle of water. Other options are to purchase bottled water at small convenient stores along the beach for much cheaper
.
Cancun lies on the more populated cusp of the Yucatan Peninsula's Mayan Riviera. Staying at the Oasis Palm Beach Resort and Spa enables a visitor to take a bus out of the city to explore the historic Mayan ruins and temples. The ride takes roughly an hour or two, depending on traffic. For the die-hard shoppers, the resort lies close to the Plaza Caracol Shopping Center and Cancun Convention Center. Many tourists can't wait to find new golfing destinations, and they would be in luck because the Cancun Golf Club nearby offers 18 holes of play. The resort also offers a family-friendly environment. The ocean along the property is relatively calm and shallow at about 3 feet deep - perfect for kids to enjoy safely and adults to relax in as well. For those that prefer big waves, this may not be the best beach.

Bottom Line

When it comes to exploring and vacationing on a budget, tourists should not overlook the appeal of Cancun, Mexico, and the Oasis Palm Beach and Spa. Families with children will find the calm beaches and surrounding activities an added bonus. Those travelers who prefer a quiet locale should go during the off season, as crowds can be expected otherwise (especially during the American spring break season). Other than crowds, water quality is an issue, as it is in most Mexican resorts, but overall the Oasis Palm Beach and Spa is a good value for a family.
