I looked into travel agent schools when I first looked into becoming a travel agent. I was just too tired to deal with the schools that I found. When I found out the specifics about how to become a travel agent and how it could be so easy, I quickly changed my course away from travel agent schools.

Here's the thing: you get a little more by attending one of the travel agent schools out there. For example, I technically don't get discounts on airline prices if I need to travel at the last minute. Sometimes, going to travel agent school will get you such a discount. However, I am a travel agent and when I "let that slip" I usually get bumped up to first class at no extra charge.

Travel Agent Schools Works For Some
If you're young and you're just embarking on a career, I can see the merits in attending travel agent training or schools. You learn a lot and you get your hands dirty, so to speak. I, personally, have paid my dues and am no longer interested in getting my hands dirty.

I will also acknowledge that there are many people out there looking to make easy money and a home based business is what they've got their eye on. In this case, becoming a travel agent with a company like the one I work with is ideal. Travel agents schools are not required and you are in control of your business.
