I hated my job. Well, I didn't actually hate it--I was just burnt out from the long hours, little pay and no chance for vacations. After a lot of soul searching, I realized that it was time for a change.
I wasn't really sure what I wanted to do for my next career. What I did know was that I needed a break from a hectic office and I needed a job where I could actually take time off to travel. It wasn't too long before I looked into starting a home business and I quickly found my calling. I began looking more deeply into becoming a travel agent.
Becoming a Travel Agent Was a Dream Come True
Becoming a travel agent was an idea I had tinkered with when I was in college. I worked at my university's travel office and was great and finding and booking cheap travel. When I found out about the possibility of becoming a travel agent and having a home business as an agent, I became very interested.
It turned out that I didn't have to do a lot to become a travel agent--which was key for me. While I'm usually a go-getter, I was just too tired to take courses or go through a long training process. I became a home-based travel agent by signing a few forms and paying a reasonable fee.
The Rewarding Career of a Travel Agent
I never imagined that becoming a travel agent would be so rewarding. Becoming a travel agent isn't only rewarding for my clients, it's rewarding for me. The perks I get as a travel agent include drastically reduced hotel and car rental prices and I use them often.
I'm a home based travel agent which means I set my own hours and I can spend time with my family. Becoming a travel agent made me able to, and in fact, forced me to travel. I may not do this forever, but as long as I enjoy it and it makes me money, I'm here.

I have to admit that I felt a bit guilty with my joy in my career. It was so easy that I wondered why I had never thought of this before. It's because of how long I suffered before finding out about becoming a travel agent that I created this site.
