Timeshare resales are pretty simple to understand, once you get the hang of it. Basically, it boils down to this: somebody who invested in a timeshare already has decided to bail out, for whatever reasons. Now they'd like to resell it to you.

There are always lots of timeshare resales on the market (a quick perusal of the timeshare classifieds will confirm this). If you ask yourself why this is, you're already asking the right questions. I think you're going to get the hang of this very quickly!

Timeshare Resales = Time to Move On
Timeshare resales happen for a number of reasons: the owner decides they'd like to spend their vacations somewhere else; the owner is dissatisfied with the property; the owner is playing the real estate game, buying and selling like you'd play the stock market; the buyer is burnt out on the whole timeshare shebang.

One point that's worth making, at this stage of the game: timeshare resales rarely wind up recouping their initial investment. Of course, there are innumerable exceptions to this. We call them success stories.
