Timeshare ratings are the ratings given to a resort or timeshare, in order to peg its value on some kind of universal scale. The idea is to differentiate worst from best, cheapest from most opulent, etc. There are three main bodies charged with the responsibility of issuing timeshare ratings. Let's take them one at a time.
RCI (or Resort Condominiums International) is a huge organization, which rates the timeshare properties on a pre-determined scale. It boasts a huge roster of members, and issues each of them timeshare reviews. This organization has recently taken to using a point system, not directly linked to cash-value, which is the subject of some controversy. (We discussed this, a couple of pages back.)
The Gist of Timeshare Ratings
II (Interval International) is very similar to RCI, both in its gigantic scale and ratings parameters. II's timeshare ratings rank their finest establishments as 5-star selections. They do not use the point system, so the controversy isn't theirs; but I've been sensing a bit of the same backlash there.
You can find many sites online that are dedicated to providing you with reviews of timeshares. You can see how people rate the various locations. It's important to do a bit of research before you invest in your adventure.
