The function of the timeshare calendar is to break the year down into intervals (also known as weeks). There are, on the average, 52 weeks in a year: each is numbered on the timeshare calendar, as 1-52. This is a universally accepted timeshare tool, agreed upon by independent owners, renters, and timeshare organizations alike.
This doesn't mean that the timeshare community has lost touch with civilian terms like "June", or "September". It simply means that they have layered their timeshare calendar over the top of our own. It means that they don't have to get into the whole "last three days of April, first four days of May" thing, with its cumbersome specificity.
Living by the Timeshare Calendar
Living by the timeshare calendar is sort of like living on military time. You don't hear the woman at the laundromat or the Pic 'N' Save saying, "Yes, we'll reconnoiter at seventeen hundred hours". It just doesn't happen. On the other hand, you will hear a timeshare salesman say, "You can have week twelve for such-and-such dollars". (Actually, I don't think "such and such dollars" is an accepted timeshare phrase.)
In short, the timeshare calendar is a simple way of communicating a simple truth, the way timeshare people see it. The year is broken down into 52 weeks, in which you are either vacationing or not. If you decide to enter the timeshare kingdom, you will have to learn the language; and believe me, there are far more complicated timeshare concepts to wrap your head around.
