Finding the right accommodations in San Antonio takes a solid plan--it helps to know the sights you'd like to visit before you book a hotel. Each part of San Antonio is home to many excellent hotels, so you shouldn't have a problem finding a great place to stay. Just remember to get a hotel near the spots you'd like to visit--San Antonio is huge, and traveling through the city can take some time, especially during rush hour.

For the most affordable San Antonio accommodations, try what's called the Northwest Side. This is home to many middle-class Texans, and has many clean and hospitable discount hotels. Downtown is an affordable part of San Antonio that's close to many attractions in the downtown and south San Antonio area. Downtown San Antonio is home to the Alamo, and the record-setting Fairmont hotel.

You'll find the hotels in the historic districts to be slightly higher in price--this is true for San Antonio's more wealthy areas, as well. There are several advantages that come with these increased lodging rates, including close proximity to many historical wonders. However, if you don't mind a fifteen-minute cab or bus ride, you'll have no trouble saving a few dollars by staying downtown or in the Northwest Side.
