You can chug through lilly-pads on a paddlewheel steamer or take a ride on a riverboat. You will find southern belles, riverboat captains and big rambling plantation houses. Jefferson is certainly a Mecca for history buffs and you couldn't find more all in one place if you tried. What was once a thriving commerce center in Texas is now a beautiful relaxing vacation getaway. In Jefferson you will find Caddo lake, the only natural lake in Texas, where you will be amazed to hear the echoes of herons and see the splashing of 71 different species of fish, and occasionally spot an alligator or two.
