Spring break ski trips might not be possible for everyone in the country. Late in spring, the mountains of Southern California are not as amenable as they were earlier in the winter. I don't know exactly why someone would want to be in freezing weather on the eve of the celebration of new growth and the return of the sun, but it happens more often than not. Spring break ski trips are good ways for those who are enthusiastic about skiing and the snow to get together and celebrate their passion for the sport. There are a variety of popular locations, such as Vail and Beaver Creek, that are known for having great accommodations in addition to great mountains.
On a ski trip, a person won't find the large crowds that a location like Cancun might have on a spring break trip. However, he or she might find a small crowd of loyal ski enthusiasts that will make the trip a wonderful experience. For those who attend school in a ski resort area, it is a low cost alternative to the normally expensive plane flights to spring break locations in the sun.
A great way to find a group of people who want to attend a ski resort during their spring break would be to join your school's ski club or a local ski club. These groups often plan yearly excursions to mountains across the country, and would be much more likely to want to spend spring in the snow than your typical college student. These groups will often get great rates at ski resorts because of their valued patronage and through negotiating with travel booking agencies, which is great for poor students looking for a cheap way to vacation.
