Graduation trips are what many students in high school and college look forward to. Ask any student and they will tell you that the graduation ceremony is for the parents and the party afterwards is for the students. Taking an exotic trip can be a great way for friends to unwind, reminisce, and create some final memories together.
What Not to Do on Graduation Trips
My high school's graduation trip to Orange County and the wonderful world of Disney was modest. We stayed at the Disneyland Hotel and the entire graduating class, more or less, wandered through the park for a couple of days and nights. It wasn't a very good trip because it lacked the bonding that a class would get if it was to go to an exotic location far from civilization.
There was no sitting around the fire sharing our intimate experiences with one another. There was no enjoying the sun while sipping on a pineapple smoothie. As far as graduation trips are concerned, it was mild. Our school was small, and could not raise the money necessary to travel to Mexico or the Bahamas. Though it was not a complete waste by any means, and most people did have a lot of fun on the trip, it was not as memorable as it could have been.
Having lived through this experience, I would suggest graduation trips that include some sort of beach or campfire. There is something about spending time in nature with friends and people who you would like to get to know better. It brings out a more natural, calm side of people that allows for personal reflection and intimate bonding as friends. Spending time before going off to different colleges or jobs is extremely valuable for friends, so take the time to think out the perfect place to spend your graduation trip. Travel websites will have lots of suggestions of popular destinations, and will probably offer some great package deals.
