College ski trips are wonderful ways for a group of friends to get to know one another better than ever. Spending time in the mountains as snow falls to the ground ever so slightly makes for a wonderful opportunity to bond and share as friends. The warmth of the log cabins will undoubtedly bring people closer together, and might even spark some romances. There are numerous locations to enjoy when going on a ski trip, so research the surrounding area well before deciding on the perfect spot to snuggle together and roast marshmallows.
Where to Go for College Ski Trips
The first thing that any group of college friends must decide is where they want to go. I went to school in the Bay Area, so we would travel to Lake Tahoe to ski. There were many affordable condos for rent on any given weekend, and we could pile as many people as we could fit into them in most cases. Oftentimes this meant having three people per queen size bed, and a few people in sleeping bags on the floor. After all, college ski trips wouldn't be complete without this chaotic scene.
However, in California, there are many more locations for ski trips. Big Bear, Yosemite, and Mammoth are just a few of the larger locations that are available. Mammoth is especially nice because it has numerous mountains and has catered to ski tourism for decades. However, check out your local skiing destinations. There will most likely be an affordable place not far from the college that you might be able to simply drive a few hours to get to while still being able to drive back to the dorms.
If your college is not in California, and I apologize for the West Coast bias, there are an incredible number of locations across the country. Vail is a beautiful place to travel to, but don't be surprised when your cabin costs you three hundred dollars a night and only has one bedroom. Finding a good travel agency to book the trip through can save you a lot of money, especially if you are going with a group. Breck and Keystone are also good options. However, don't forget what college ski trips are all about: spending time with the people that you love and cherish as friends.
