In south eastern Peru, there is an amazing hotel called Posada Amazonas. Only, calling it a "hotel" would be a supreme disservice to it's designers. Posada Amazonas is what is known as an "ecolodge" and was designed to take full advantage of it's rainforest surroundings without harming the local ecology. Despite this fact, it still manages to be a wonderful and fairly comfortable place to stay.
Perhaps not as comfortable as a hotel in Cuzco City or even the Machu Picchu Inn, but it's surroundings more than make up for it. This is because when you stay there, you are literally living in a rainforest! It's an incredible place that has thirty nearly open-air rooms with huge windows for staring out at the endless trees and each of the rooms comes with a private bathroom. So, again, despite the fact that it's made from local materials found in the rainforest, it still manages to be fairly comfortable.
Posada Amazonas - Why Stay Anywhere Else?
When we here at Peru Travel Information first learned of the Posada Amazonas, we wondered why anyone would want to stay at any other hotel in all of Peru. The sheer adventure of staying at this ecolodge thrilled us to no end. But then, we realized the extremeness of the adventure may not be what everyone is looking for.
Since you are literally staying in a jungle when you stay at this ecolodge, it can be very intimidating. There are many wild animals who live in the rainforest. But don't worry - mostly the area is known for hosting a large variety of birds, giant otters (some can grow up to six feet in length!) along with monkeys.
