Nazca Lines

The Nazca Lines are a genuine mystery. No one can agree on exactly what they are, but we all can know what they look like. And that's people, animals, and geometric shapes, drawn in the sand of the Peruvian desert on a massive scale. In fact the scale is so massive that it's hard to even notice the lines are there from the ground.

In fact, the giant figures weren't even noticed until 1927 when pilots happen to see these giant lines that resembled landing strips. Upon further investigation, they spotted a spider, a lizard, a hummingbird and many more animals and shapes. But why were the Nazca Lines drawn in the rocky sands of the Peruvian desert?

Nazca Lines - A Mystery Yet To Be Solved
How and why these drawing were carved into a portion of the desert spanning an area of 1 mile wide by 37 miles long, roughly two thousand years ago is still not known. There are many bizarre theories that attempt to explain the lines. Some people actually believe that they are drawings for aliens to see as they fly overhead in their saucers. Others believe the drawings may be a map to underground water sources. Probably the most believable theory is that they are a series of minimalistic shrines for an ancient religion in the area that no longer exists.

The Nazca Lines promise something that none of the other Peru tourist attractions can deliver. The mystery of just what these drawings are. We know why the Temple of the Sun was built. We know what the aqueducts in the Tipón ruins, near Oropesa are for, but the Nazca Lines will probably remain a mystery for quite some time. Unless... perhaps you can unravel the mystery!
