Machu Picchu weather can be anything from wet and dreary to sunny and gorgeous. It really depends on when you are there and of course, luck. The first thing to remember about Machu Pichu Peru is that it's in the southern hemisphere. What does this have to do with the weather? A lot!
In the southern hemisphere, the seasons are inverted. So, don't expect a white Christmas or a sunny and warm, June afternoon. But because of the fairly unique climate, the weather can be somewhat unpredictable. The best way to be sure of the weather is to check online shortly before you go and check local sources frequently once you're there.
When's The Best Time To Go To Enjoy Good Machu Picchu Weather?
It's generally accepted that the spring and fall are the best times to visit for the best Machu Picchu weather. Roughly March/April and September/October. Just remember the southern hemisphere thing! Spring time is later in the year and fall is earlier.
But also remember that thanks to the unique climate of Peru, you need to check the weather forecasts regularly especially if you're planning a hike on the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu - you want the best weather you can get for that. Local television is a good source and the Internet comes in after that. As with all aspects of travel in a foreign country, the more you know, the better.
