Machu Picchu In Peru

Machu Picchu in Peru is the lost city of the Inca civilization. Located in the Sacred Valley, it was discovered by Hiram Bingam in July, 1911. The purpose of the city, along with its origins, remain a mystery to this very day. Even the invading Conquistadors never saw or heard of it.

Besides the beauty of these ruins, the way it's laid out to blend with its surroundings--the misty, lush foothills of the Andes--is truly captivating. The climate around Machu Picchu is tropical, with heavy rain, electrical storms, and heavy mist, which regularly shrouds the hills. Highlights of the ruins include Wayna Picchu, Temple of the Moon, Inca Bridge, and Intihuatana.
