Lima Peru Airport

Since Lima is the capital city of Peru, it makes sense that when you travel to Peru, you'll probably be flying into the Lima Peru airport. The locals call it "Aeropuerto Internacional Jorge Chavez" and it's named after the first man to fly across the Peruvian Alps way back in 1910. This is a pretty impressive feat considering it was over 90 years ago and human flight, itself, wasn't even a decade old at the time!

There is only one real airline for Peru and it's called Aero Continente. If you're in Peru for a short time and you want to see a lot of sights, then the best thing to do is to do a lot of domestic flying. This means you'll be flying in and out of the Lima Peru airport at least a few times.

Aero Continente The Only Domestic Airline for Lima Peru Airport
Aero Continente has a virtual monopoly on domestic flights in Peru. They only compete with LanPeru which may sound like a domestic airline, but they're actually owned by a Chilean airline. However, many international airlines fly in an out of the Lima Peru airport every day.

There is a lot to know about Aeropuerto Internacional Jorge Chavez - be sure to read up on it before you leave home. There are many taxes and fees that are not always commonplace in other countries. Don't fly blind. That's high on our list of Peru travel tips.
