Inca Trail to Machu Picchu

The Inca Trail to Machu Picchu is probably one of the best things to do when you travel to Peru. The trail itself is a little more than 20 miles long (33km) and takes days to hike. However, most people who take the trek on foot are glad they did it. You get to see some stunning views and explore ancient ruins only accessible from the trail.

And unfortunately, there's no other way to travel on the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu aside from going on foot. You can take a bus to Machu Picchu, but you won't be using the trail and you won't be able to see any of the ruins first-hand. If you're on a limited schedule, unfortunately, the trail may not be the best option for you.

Roughing It on the Inca Trail To Machu Picchu
If you're up for a somewhat physically taxing adventure, then the trail is for you. Since it takes days to hike the trail, you have to bring a lot of stuff with you. Food, clothes, and tents. While most tours will send along several people to help carry, you will be responsible for some of your own items. So, make sure you're feeling good about your health before you go.

While it is a taxing journey, you won't be sorry you made it. The sights along the way are astounding and when you finally reach Machu Picchu, you have a pretty good idea of what the original inhabitants of Machu Picchue had to go through just to get there. And your Peru pictures will be the envy of everyone you know!
