Canal St Martin

The little known Canal St Martin is one of Paris' best-kept secrets. You may be walking along the north-eastern district of Paris and just tumble upon it. It is a long, 4 mile long waterway, but it seems to come out of nowhere. It is one of those places where you think, Why isn't everybody here?

The Canal St Martin is one of the nicest places to take a stroll in all of Paris. Along with the Seine--which is connected to the Canal St Martin--it is one of the best places to take a walk with your better half, or your better half to be.

The Beauty of The Canal St Martin
Because the Canal St Martin is so long, it is possible to have your walk be a private one. In addition, because the northeast section is not the most popular destination for tourists, you can have a quiet stroll among the overhanging trees, along the water.

Constructed in 1806, it is yet another element of Paris where you can picture yourself walking in Paris two-hundred years ago, in a much different time. Talk about a vacation, Paris can sometimes feel like a time machine.
