New York is a huge city, sprawling across more than three islands and a large chunk of the mainland. But when choosing NYC hotels, you should consider that you'll probably spend most of your time in Manhattan. So, unless you want a vacation filled with long commutes, you'll probably want a Manhattan hotel.
Manhattan: The Heart of New York City
An island at the mouth of the Hudson River, situated between Long Island and New Jersey, Manhattan is home to just about every tourist destination you've heard of, from Broadway to Central Park to the Empire State Building. There's plenty to see in Brooklyn or the Bronx, but for the tourist (and also business travelers), Manhattan is the place to be. Fortunately, you'll find some of the best New York hotels on this famous island.
Each neighborhood in Manhattan has its own distinctive character. Depending on your interests and the purpose of your visit, you will want to find a Manhattan hotel in the part of town that best suits your needs, whether it's uptown, downtown, or somewhere in between. Don't worry too much, though. It's easy to travel from one part to another with New York's extensive public transportation system.
Aren't Manhattan Hotels more Expensive?
Of course, a good location means higher prices, but if you're careful, you can always find exceptions to this rule. There are plenty of low-priced Manhattan hotels. So use that extra money to go shopping on Fifth Avenue.
