Wisconsin Getaway

Wisconsin getaways are popular for inhabitants of the Midwest. Green Bay is a popular destination, but sometimes people really need to get away from the sounds and sights of the city in order to truly relax. Wisconsin offers many pastoral settings for a weekend getaway or a week long vacation. There are some truly quaint fishing towns along the eastern peninsula of the state, among them Sister Bay, Fish Creek, and Ephraim.

You can still do big-city type things in this small town area. There are plenty of museums in the area, including the Miller Art Museum. This museum has a permanent display of works by prominent Wisconsin artists, as well as seven exhibits that change several times a year. Exploring a new museum is always such an exciting experience--you never know, your new favorite painting might be hanging just around the corner.

A Wisconsin Getaway Offers Big City Arts with a Small Town Charm
If you want great theater, Door County's got it. In Jacksonport, you can take in dinner and a Broadway-style show with Door Off Broadway. Whether you dress up or not, you'll still enjoy an amazing dinner. Each guest is treated as an individual patron--this isn't like those dinner theaters where you are shuffled through a buffet line. You receive individual service and fine dining choices like salmon, prime rib, steak, chicken, etc.

If you're visiting Door County during the summer, you shouldn't miss the Peninsula Players, America's oldest summer theater. These players have been entertaining audiences for more than 70 years. The season lasts from June to October (exact dates vary each year), so if you want a cultured way to end the perfect fishing or sightseeing, check out the playbill in Fish Creek.
