Sister Bay is so named because one of the earliest settlers (named Increase Claflin) thought two small islands just outside the bay looked like sisters. Sister Bay is roughly 12 miles north of Fish Creek, 10 miles west of Baileys Harbor, and 10 miles south of the Washington Island ferry depot. Its location is convenient for tourists and vacationers, making it easy to see all other parts of the peninsula.

There are many things to do in Sister Bay. Sister Bay provides plenty of local boutiques and both rustic and fine dining experiences, which is what many people find special about the area. Many of these shops are located along Highway 42 or Bay Shore Drive. With great views of the peninsula, opportunities for photography abound in the entire region.

You can't stay at Sister Bay without going to Village Park Beach. The lifeguards at the beach make it a safe and popular place to bring children. Musical entertainers play for the crowds on the beach throughout the summer. It is a fun and festive environment for couples and families of all ages.
