Fish Creek offers some beautiful and diverse lodging choices for a range of budgets. This beautiful small town is a very historic part of Door County. Fish Creek's history dates back to 1854 when Asa Thorp built the first settlement on the waters north of Green Bay. By the early 1900s, the village of Fish Creek became Wisconsin's fishing central.
Because of its historic nature, Fish Creek has many interesting places to visit. The town hall was built in 1880, which was then moved in 1925 to the waterfront. There are guided walking tours throughout the village offered during the summer months. You can see what it was like to live here in the previous century, when farming and fishing were what kept the town's residents afloat. For families interested in historic America, Fish Creek is a recommended stop.
Staying in Fish Creek
There are any number of quaint inns or bed and breakfasts in which to stay, but given the historic nature of Fish Creek, why not stay in a converted farmhouse from the late 1800s? The White Gull Inn has been restored and decorated with antiques to enhance the period atmosphere it creates. While the rooms have been modernized to provide you with the conveniences you're used to, being in a place that people have lived in for over a hundred years inspires the imagination.
If you're not a history buff, there are plenty of other choices as far as lodging. You could choose a romantic inn, perfect for a second honeymoon (or even a first!). There are also kid-friendly resorts nearby with extensive outdoor activities available.
