Akumal, Mexico is located in the heart of the Mayan Riviera and is one of many Caribbean cities along the Yucatan Peninsula. Much like Tankah, Akumal is picturesque and has beautiful white sand beaches that run into crystal blue water. Akumal is truly a breathtaking place to spend a Mayan Riviera vacation and condominiums are a popular way to stay.

Each city in the Yucatan Peninsula is unique and Akumal is no exception. It was once an exclusive resort for scuba divers in the early 1950s. But later, all types of adventure seekers began traveling to the town. Today you can snorkel, dive or fish.

You can even go on day trips to other popular and nearby Mexican-Caribbean cities. From May through November, Akumal is a popular turtle nesting area. It is recommended that you take guided tours to view the turtles in their nesting areas along the beach.

When staying in Akumal, you basically have three choices of accommodations: condominiums, villas or hotels/resorts. Each offers their own amenities, so you should probably do some investigating on the internet to determine what works best for you and your price range. Make your reservations early before hotel accommodations book up, though.
