Akumal diving is another popular outdoor adventure at Akumal beach on the Yucatan Peninsula. Similar to snorkeling, scuba diving lets you explore the clear waters and marine life of the Caribbean. Many things factor into what goes into a successful diving mission.
In order to scuba dive, you must learn how to use the equipment and be certified. The equipment that scuba divers use can be much more complicated than snorkeling gear, so that's why a certification class is necessary. You can become certified before you travel to the Caribbean or you can take a class at Akumal Beach and learn how to scuba dive.

Scuba diving consists of utilizing a tank of compressed air that is carried on the diver's back. You also have a regulator that will lower air pressure that is delivered to you and another regulator and mouthpiece which allows for air passage when you inhale. This regulator also blocks air from escaping when you exhale.
In addition to a face mask, you'll also receive two gauges that measure your depth and remaining air in the tank. You'll have access to an inflatable vest and a weight belt, including fins which will help you swim underwater. And last but not least, you'll be wearing a wetsuit to prevent your body from experiencing cuts from underwater rocks or hypothermia.
