Akumal beaches stretch far and wide and are blanketed with white sand that runs into crystal clear blue water. It is one of the most beautiful places in the Caribbean. In Akumal you'll find shopping, restaurants and a variety of attractions like snorkeling or diving.
There are two bays located in Akumal beach that provide great areas for snorkeling or diving. If you'd rather stay on top of the water, you can rent a kayak and one of many locations. Akumal villas are a popular place to stay or you can choose from condos, resorts or hotels.
How to Reach Akumal Beach
It is best to fly into Cancun International Airport and then drive to Akumal beach. Surprisingly, you'll find a Wal-Mart as you drive down to Akumal, for all of your needs. Cozumel is a short plane or ferry ride away from Akumal and is another great Mexican town.
Other sites in the area include the Tulum ruins, which are about 20 miles south of Akumal. The Christmas holiday season is one of the busiest times of year for this region. If you want to take your Mayan Riviera vacation during this time of year, it is recommended that you book your trip and accommodations at least 6 to 12 months in advance.
