Mediterranean Cruises

Mediterranean cruises show vacationers some of the most gorgeous parts of the world. The Mediterranean region has seen civilizations dating back thousands of years. From Spain to Greece and from Turkey to Morocco, the Mediterranean is a region of diverse cultures with a lot of variety to offer travelers.

The regions right on the Mediterranean have a relatively mild climate. The temperature hardly ever goes below freezing in the winter (and when it does, it makes headlines), and tends not to get much above 35 degrees Celsius (95 degrees Fahrenheit) in the summer. Palm trees and beautiful coastlines can be found everywhere from Gibraltar to Istanbul.

A Journey of Discovery on Mediterranean Cruises

Mediterranean cruises usually last anywhere from a week to six weeks depending on the package. Many Mediterranean cruises focus just on certain areas of the Mediterranean such as the Italian Peninsula or the Greek Islands. Others will take you from Barcelona to Venice or from Casablanca to Rome. The majority of the vacation is spent on the cruise ship, with stops at between five and 10 port cities along the way, depending on the length of the cruise and how far the cruise ship is sailing. When docked at port cities, travelers have the chance to disembark for the day to get a taste of local culture.

Cruise ship packages usually include accommodations (cabins), food and drink, on-board recreation such as pools and volleyball, and wonderful entertainment. Airfare is almost always purchased separately, but sometimes travel companies offer package deals including airfare. It is important to point out that while some Mediterranean cruises return to their port of departure, many do not. It's best to consult a travel agency in order to have everything sorted out in advance.
