European Balloon Vacations

European balloon vacations are a unique way to experience Europe from a different perspective. Traveling by balloon above some of the most picturesque regions of the European continent, one can get a view of Europe's cities and magnificent countryside as most tourists never get to see them. From the Alps to the Loire Valley, anyone will be amazed by the experience one can have seeing Europe from a balloon.

Taking a balloon tour from place to place in Europe may sound a bit unusual to even the most experienced traveler. Thousands and thousands of tourists, however, take European balloon vacations every year. Even those who've experienced just about everything one can do on a vacation claim that seeing Europe from a balloon is by far one of the most memorable experiences of their lives.

How European Balloon Vacations Work

Most European Balloon vacations can run anywhere from five days to two weeks. On travel days one is in the balloon for three to five hours at a time. The tour stops in one town or village for a few days so clients have the chance to absorb local culture. Accommodation is almost always included in the price of the tour, as are most meals.

Balloon tours are run by professional balloonists with a lot of experience in the tourism business and thousands of hours of flight time under their belts. Even for those who get motion sickness very easily, riding in a balloon is a very comfortable way to travel. Balloons drift along so slowly - usually no more than 15 kilometers per hour (10 miles an hour) - that one can hardly feel any movement at all. The tour operators run only during seasons with little wind in order to avoid the chance of the tour being interrupted by unfavorable weather. The balloon pilots never fly high either. They purposely fly close to the ground so tourists can speak with people on the ground and see important landmarks up close. There are also never a large number of people in the basket of the balloon at one time, so no one ever feels cramped.
