Sedona is supposed to have healing vortexes emanating from the surrounding red rock spires. I don’t know how much of that is true but what is true is that Sedona ranks among the top most beautiful places in the United States. Graced with a thousand formations of magnificent red rock crags, Sedona is gleaming with a marvelous compromise of rock and stubbornly exotic plant life. It’s unlike any other part of Arizona or the entire Southwest, a unique ecosystem that has to be seen.
If you think you’ve seen all Arizona has to offer without seeing Sedona, you’ve missed perhaps the best part. In fact, Sedona was voted by USA Today, according to Sedona.net, as “the most beautiful city in the United States.” I’m not sure if I’m qualified to agree but staying even one night there is a magical experience.
Passing Time in Sedona
The town has numerous options for lodging--each one trying to outdo the other. “Cozy” is the name of the game here and there are innumerable small Bed & Breakfasts offering a variety of accommodation styles. The problem with these is that they generally fill up quickly and can be astronomical in cost.
If you’re looking for something affordable, there are several hotel options built into the natural surroundings. (It’s amazing how the town has avoided massive tourist infrastructure!) Many of these hotels double as all-inclusive resorts and feature full spa and massage treatments, as well as pools and other relaxing amenities unavailable at smaller sites. Most are close to Red Rock State Park and the hundreds of other outdoor activities.
