San Diego Lodging

It’s been said that San Diego has the best weather in the world. Some in Los Angeles would take umbrage at this statement, but San Diego does receive even less rain, while its temperatures are slightly higher in winter and cooler in summer. This makes for a great vacation destination year-round.

The highlight of San Diego has always been its 70 miles of startling coastline--pocked with crags, caves, and outcrops that are perfect for surfing, kayaking, or just lounging in the sun. The historic old town is also a popular tourist destination as well. Of course, San Diego is also a great starting point for Mexico and all its wondrous culture and natural sites.

Where to Stay?
The best way to choose lodging in San Diego is to figure out which of these sites and activities interest you most. Staying along the coast will obviously be more expensive but being in walking range of the ocean is sometimes worth it. If you stay north near La Jolla or Torry Pines, you situate yourself near pristine coastal scenery but you will commit yourself to a longer drive to many art galleries, stadiums and downtown fun.

Pacific Beach, Mission Beach, and Ocean Beach offer that traditional overcrowded ocean community that San Diego is famous for. These spots are renowned for their vibrant nightlife, one which benefits from the numerous universities in the area. Whatever your interest, staying near the beach will always put you in the center of the action.
