Las Vegas Venetian Hotel

The Venetian Hotel and Casino is one of the most prominent features on the Las Vegas Strip. It’s an easy drive in from the main drag and within walking distance of other central Strip highlights such as the Mirage and the new Treasure Island. With her elegant outer facade, canals, and old Venetian style architecture, she’s clearly the most dominant centerpiece in her immediate vicinity and certainly worth consideration when determining where to stay.

The obvious highlight of the hotel is the sprawling recreation of old Venice inside the shopping mall. It may not be the real thing but it’s still worth a visit. Complete with two veins of canals, gondola rides, and of course, overpriced gelato in the main square, you’ll get the feel of old Venice without the European crowds and overpriced pizza.

Beyond the Canals
The casino area is also nice and features recreations of famous Sistine Chapel artwork overcrowding the ceilings. This perfectly complements the Guggenheim Hermitage museum, which while a bit small, still features an impressive collection of world art from the Guggenheim collection. The Guggenheim also runs a larger space which houses rotating art shows. Admission to both facilities is often free for guests.

If you’re hoping to stay at the Venetian, competition can be tough. Don’t wait until the last minute to book rooms. Mid week is a particularly good time. Either way, rates tend to be slightly more competitive than Paris and Aladdin.
