Colosseum Hotels

Colosseum hotels are those considered within a reasonable (often walking) distance to Rome's most famous tourist attraction. The Colosseum is a huge draw for people around the world, and often serves as a traveller's base of operations when viewing the wonders of the Eternal City. The only drawback to Colosseum hotels is that they are not centrally located within the city itself.

Booking Colosseum Hotels
The city of Rome has districts and regions much like any large city, and the Colosseum is located in the southeast. There are plenty of tourist sites in its nearest surroundings so booking Colosseum hotels is not a bad idea, although you will find St. Peter's Basilica, Trevi Fountain, and even Vatican City are across town. When you arrive in the city you should pick up a map of the public transportation system and have a good plan as to which sites you plan on viewing and when. Coordinate your approach so as not to waste time.

Colosseum hotels vary in price as greatly as the hotels spread throughout the city. Unlike other cities with diverse regions and districts Rome has a fairly even distribution of price, so booking discounted hotels in the Colosseum area is not very hard to do. Also note that travel agents will be able to get you slightly better prices because of their connections and packages they work out with the various hotels they deal with.

If you decide to go about it on your own then you can expect to find hotels that range in price from $30 a night to $200 a night for a three-star hotel. Certainly there are hotels that charge much more, but those are reserved for the rich and famous. There are also a few names you might recognize like Marriott or Sheraton, but they are not as prevalent as they are in other cities.
