Sadly, Miller is only one remaining today. Miller Brewing Company is the largest brewery in Milwaukee, and no trip would be complete without a tour of this fine establishment. Free tours are available (with post-tour samples for the over 21 crowd). Or for more in-depth beer knowledge, the Lakefront Brewery is a smaller operation, but the tours are more educational.Â An added incentive is that complimentary beer is offered before, during, and after the tours.Â

This is a fairly compact city, and most of the attractions are downtown. For the most part, no cars are needed, especially in the summer. It's a walkable city with some sparse public transport. As far as staying in Milwaukee, you'll find it easy and reasonable. A terrific destination from nearby cities such as Chicago and Madison, Milwaukee offers many hotel and motels options at all ranges. Cozy bed and breakfasts, major hotel chains, and basic motels are everywhere at relatively low prices due to the lower cost of living in the Midwest.
