Kansas City, Missouri is a town of nearly half a million residents (just about all of them friendly) located on the Missouri River in western Missouri. Kansas City is known as the "City of Fountains," and these are situated in some of the nicest locations in the city.
Don't Forget to Try the Ribs
Even if structures that spout water don't do it for you, Kansas City has the advantage of being a relatively low-cost city, so spending time here will be easy on your wallet. This allows you to take advantage of the unbelievable food. Kansas City is famous for its barbecue, and you can find endless restaurants specializing in steaks and barbecue in KC.
There is also a good nightlife and bar scene in Westport, a couple of miles from the city's downtown district, or you can check out the River Market area to get yourself some souvenirs and walk off some of the barbeque you'll be ingesting. If you feel like taking in some history and culture, check out Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art, a world-class art museum, or see the Negro League Baseball Museum, located downtown, which features exhibits detailing the history of the Negro Leagues and some of its legendary players.Â
There isn't any truly viable public transportation system in Kansas City, and cabs are scarce. You will need to rent a car if you're going to do any sightseeing. Hotel prices here are inexpensive, usually about $40 to $80, so with the money you save on lodging, you can treat yourself or your clients to a really pleasant time in this friendly, vivacious city.
