Indianapolis International Airport (IND) handles nearly one million tons of freight and services over seven million passengers every year. This may not be considered that much when compared to major, international airports like London's Heathrow or Los Angeles International that handle ten times those numbers, but for a mid-size, regional airport, those numbers are significant. IND is situated to the southwest of the city and is one of five in the area (though the other four are much smaller).

Indianapolis has many quality hotels, situated very near to the airport. Indianapolis experiences a surge of tourism every time the Indianapolis 500 comes to town and quality hotel rooms can be hard to come by. (It is the Super Bowl of auto racing after all.) The rest of the year, many of those hotels operate under capacity and good rooms can be had at great prices. You can often find a four-star room at a three-star price.

Indianapolis may not have the gargantuan traffic problems that plague other cities, but it has its share of traffic jams. In order to avoid delays and arrive at their terminals in time to meet security requirements, many travelers departing from Indianapolis International choose to stay in hotels adjacent to the airport. This allows for a leisurely start the morning of their flights and very short commutes into the airport. Park, sleep, and fly is not huge in Indianapolis but it does have a presence.

Indianapolis is not the largest park, sleep, and fly market but neither are the hotels near IND exorbitantly priced. You can often find good deals through online park, sleep, and fly companies--especially through those that have partnerships with national hotel chains. Just be certain that you do a little bit of homework. Find out what sort of reputation the company has and what sort of experiences other travelers have had with them in the past--some companies have a lot more experience than others.
