Hershey Hotels And Motels

Hershey, Pennsylvania offers the best of the new and old, from a major Civil War battlefield and a traditional way of life to modern mall shopping and family entertainment, all within the smell of chocolate. There are numerous places to stay at fairly good prices, average hotels range between $60 and $115. The Hotel Hershey is a particularly popular spot to lodge. It's on the National Trust for Historic Preservation's Historic Hotels of America list. Recreation opportunities here include tennis, swimming, horse-drawn carriage rides, cycling and a fitness room. In the winter, cross-country skiing and sledding are available. But guests of the Hotel Hershey and the nearby Hershey Lodge also have plenty of nearby attractions to choose from.

Points of Interest in Hershey
Many visitors come here to see Hersheypark, the family theme park and entertainment center, and the Hershey Museum. Other popular attractions include Gettysburg National Military Park, just 45 minutes away by car. This is, of course, a high point for Civil War history enthusiasts. The Battle of Gettysburg was the turning point of the Civil War, inspiring President Lincoln's Gettysburg Address.

Southeast of Hershey, about thirty minutes away, is Pennsylvania Dutch Country, a very popular tourist site. Founded by German immigrants in the 1700s, the area remains an uncharacteristic blend of Amish farms and communities maintaining the ways of life from a time long ago. In addition to Amish villages, you can find markets and restaurants, as well as a few festivals here. The Landis Valley Museum exhibits Pennsylvania Dutch traditional life, demonstrating their crafts and skills.

When you get hungry, the Central Market is the place for local culinary favorites and fresh produce. Shoo-fly Pie is a specialty, or tour Sturgis Pretzel to see how this local traditional snack is made. If you like your activities more modern, there's excellent retail outlet shopping at the Factory Stores at Hershey on Hersheypark Drive as well as in nearby areas. There are some 300 stores in Pennsylvania Dutch Country. Whatever activities you enjoy, Hershey provides the whole spectrum, and you'll love this modern yet old-world city.
