Equestrian Holiday

Depending on where you plan to take your equestrian holiday, there are several things you should absolutely bring along. As someone who has been on dozens of equestrian trips all over the world, I would like to take this opportunity to give you some tips on what (and what not) to bring on your next horseback adventure.

Planning an Equestrian Holiday:
Despite what anyone might tell you, there are four things that I believe everyone should take along on a horseback riding holiday: a canteen, a flask, a pair of sturdy boots, and a cashmere sweater. These things are essential regardless of location, climate, or the type of equestrian trip in question.

The water is essential for obvious reasons. The purpose of the flask, on the other hand, might not be so clear. Regardless of your personal views on alcohol, I can tell you from experience that nothing sooths the muscles after twelve or so hours of hard riding like a nip of brandy. Trust me on this one. As far as the boots are concerned, you need to purchase and bring a pair of durable, comfortable, and versatile riding boots that can be worn anywhere. Warning: Do not bring a new pair of boots that have not been properly broken in.

Finally, I recommend that you bring along a comfortable cashmere sweater. Why? Because cashmere is comfortable, versatile, and above all luxurious ... and in my opinion, every serious rider needs a bit of luxury on the trails. For more information regarding packing for an equestrian holiday, or if you would like to know how to design the riding trip that is right for you, please feel free to contact me.
