In order to decide whether a classical dressage clinic is right for you, I would like to take this opportunity to give you an idea of what to expect. Intense, physically demanding, and mentally exhausting, horse clinics are definitely not for the faint of heart. So before you book a reservation, I encourage you to read the following information.
Classical Dressage Training:
When it comes to dressage classical training clinics, there are a wide variety of options available. For the purposes of this discussion we will be dealing with a clinic that lasts approximately five days. After the first day of getting settled in, participants in a five day clinic are subjected to intensive lessons and hacking all day long.
On the second day, for instance, participants typically have a series of hour-long lessons that begin first thing in the morning and break in the early afternoon. After a brief respite for lunch, afternoon lessons and/or trail rides begin, during which participants are subjected to several more hours in the saddle. This schedule typically repeats itself for the remainder of the workshop.
As a participant in a Classical dressage clinic, you can expect to have sore muscles for most of the trip and very little time during which to explore your outside surroundings. If, however, this grueling description sounds appealing (as it does to me), then I encourage you to sign up!
