This was the FemTour we took, and we can assure you that it was the most incredible vacation that any of us have ever experienced. Before we took off for our guided bike tour, the only thing we really knew about Sicily was that all the toughest mafiosos from The Godfather and The Sopranos could trace their lineage there. But our FemTour allowed us to experience this amazing land first-hand.
One of the beauties of Sicily is its incredibly diverse cultural background. Our FemTour guide told us that since Sicily sits in the Mediterranean, it has often been a target for conquerors. The Phoenicians, Greeks, Romans, Spaniards, and Arabs have all taken over Sicily at one time or another, and all have left their cultural imprint on the land.
The Topography
While Sicily is covered in fascinating architectural monuments, we were particularly blown away by the land's natural beauty. Our guide led us past jagged cliffs, where we looked down into the deep blue of the Mediterranean Sea. Our FemTour even allowed time to swim in its gorgeous azure waters.
The Food
Have we mentioned the food? Our guide warned us ahead of time that even though the whole trip would be spectacular, we'd be particularly blown away by the Sicilian cuisine. She was right. At every stop in Sicily, we were rewarded with the most mouth-watering dinners imaginable. It's a FemTour we all agree we'll have to take again, and we can't help but recommend it to everyone.
