College Group Travel

College group travel is an ideal way for young, inexperienced travelers to explore the sights of the world with security. Trips with peers are exciting because all the group members have much in common: age, college, maybe background and major. Within the safety of an organized group, students can enjoy a trouble-free journey to exotic locales where it might not be safe for a solo traveler to roam.

Even in "safe" cities and regions, a lone visitor might tempt pickpockets, muggers, or violent types. There are areas in the best of cities that are rough, especially after dark. There are gangs in Los Angeles and gangs in Kingston, Jamaica. Solo travel requires many more precautions than college group travel--"safety in numbers" is directly relevant to international travel.

College Group Travel Provides Resources
In addition to security, college group travel provides multiple resources in case of urgent events or emergencies. The group provides comfort, support, and members who can converse with police or healthcare workers on behalf of the discomfited group member. No matter what circumstances arise, it is far easier for a group to handle various aspects of the problem than for a lone traveler.

Many people of college age have not traveled extensively, especially beyond the United States. Aside from providing information on cultural differences, language translations, and medical assistance, tour groups provide a safety zone for neophyte travelers. For a first trip abroad--even to such familiar places as England or Scandanavia, which most people think of as among the safer areas of the world--college tours and study abroad programs provide comforting protection.
