We just went on the best vacation of our lives! Three of us decided to leave our jobs, our husbands, and our kids behind for ten days and go on a women-only guided bike tour through Sicily. We called it the "FemTour."

Now maybe you're single, or maybe the idea of running off on your own for a vacation is old hat to you, but for us it was a really big deal. None of us had been on a vacation with just women since college. That alone made our Femtour an adventure, and the fact that it would be a guided bike ride only made it all the more exciting.

No matter what your age, marital status, or fitness level, there's a FemTour out there for you. Many companies offer these amazing guided bike trips. We are of course partial to the company with which we traveled. They were amazing, thought of everything, and provided the most incredible experience we have ever had. But no matter what company you choose to tour with, you're missing out unless you try a women-only bike trip.

Why Women Only?
It's a reasonable question. Especially for women like us, with families, it feels almost wrong to run off and have a fantastic vacation not only without our kids, but without our husbands. And yet, as much as we all love our spouses, that was part of the joy. Taking the time to re-connect with a group of women on the FemTour was incredibly cathartic and wonderful. Also, since the trip is a guided bike ride, a women-only group made sure there was no macho competition. We were all in it together, pure and simple.
