Considering that Marco Island offers only four miles of beaches, it might come as a surprise that so many people flock there each year. Then again, if you knew just how beautiful Marco Island is, you might not be so surprised.
Marco Island tourism accounts for much of the community's annual revenue. Although locals have tried to keep the island to themselves, word has spread quickly throughout the world of Marco Island's riveting beaches, extraordinary waters, as well as the beautiful uninhabited barrier islands that surround it. People come from literally thousands of miles to fish off of Marco Island's coast, explore the neighboring islands, and lounge on Tigertail beach.
The thing I love most about Marco Island is its laid back atmosphere. Although Naples is only 20 minutes away and Miami is only an hour and a half away, Marco Island has somehow managed to compete with the most contemporary of vacation destinations without compromising any of its relaxed island flavors. And in my opinion, that is what makes Marco Island so special.
