If you are planning a trip to Marco Island, I highly recommend that you get yourself a map. Although Marco Island is small, it has a great deal to offer. From Hideaway Beach to Rookery Bay National Estuarine research reserve, Marco Island packs quite a lot into its relatively small space.

One of the biggest misconceptions about Marco Island is that there is nothing to do. Due to the fact that it's a small island, many would-be-visitors don't realize just how many activities are offered. From tours of the everglades to spectacular fishing expeditions, Marco Island offers something for everyone.
As someone who was born and raised in Florida, I have been just about everywhere in the Sunshine State. I have to say, however, that Marco Island is one of my favorite places. I have never seen more pristine beaches than the ones that line Marco's coastline. Nor have I had the opportunity to see up close and personal the variety of birds and wildlife that call Florida home, like I did when I visited Briggs Nature Center on Marco Island.
From the warm, crystal blue waters that serve as a backdrop to Marco Island's beautiful beaches and nature parks, to Florida's Ten Thousand Islands that are just a stone's throw away, it is no wonder that Pirates and Indians once considered Marco Island their ideal hideaway! If you are thinking about a trip to Florida in the near future, I encourage you to consider Marco Island. Quaint, charming, and cost effective, Marco Island is a wonderful place to visit.
