Florida Gulf Coast Vacation

The Gulf of Mexico, which is generally referred to as the Gulf Coast, stretches down the west side of Florida. From Pensacola to the Everglades, the coast offers miles of sandy beaches, islands and beautiful scenery. Each area has something unique to offer and your choice will depend on the type of vacation you are looking for.

Choosing your Florida Gulf Coast Vacation
One of the most well-known regions for a Gulf Coast vacation is Tampa Bay. Awash with museums, parks and sightseeing spots, Tampa is the place for a busy non-stop Florida vacation. There is plenty to keep the young and the old occupied day or night (or both) if you have the energy!

Further along this coastline is quite a different spot for a more tranquil and quiet vacation--the Everglades. The Everglades lie at the very end of the Gulf Coast--a 1.5 million acre expanse of nature is preserved within this National Park. Along with the infamous alligators, there are more than 600 species of fish and 350 species of birds.

Everglade City is located in the northwest corner of the Everglades and is an obvious choice if visiting the park. However, other areas such as Naples (a few miles north) should also be considered since they are within easy access of the park and also beach resorts. Choosing an area further up the coast means your vacation can be both a wildlife excursion and a beach vacation.
