Florida fishing vacations, in my opinion, are not complete without a trip to Marco Island. Located on the southern tip of Florida's west cost, Marco Island offers unparalleled access to Florida's famed Ten Thousand Islands, as well as the magnificent Gulf of Mexico. Whether your expertise is deep-sea-fishing or backcountry line casting, Marco Island is the place to go.
Amberjack fishing is very popular in Marco Island. Members of the "jack" fish family, Amberjacks are commonly found off the coast of Florida and in the Gulf of Mexico. With brown skin that often looks lavender and/or golden in the light, the Amberjack is a crafty fish that Marco Island natives and visitors alike love to chase.
Amberjack Fishing on Marco Island
If you are planning a trip to Marco Island and think you might want to fish for some amberjack, I strongly recommend that you retain the services of a fishing guide and/or charter company. I suggest this for several reasons, the most important of which being that amberjacks reside in deeper waters that require knowledgeable navigation. The last thing any Florida visitor wants to do is take off into the beautiful yet treacherous waters of the Gulf of Mexico alone.
As someone who loves to fish, I can testify to the fact that Marco Island truly is one of the world's best fishing spots. Whether your preference is for freshwater or saltwater fish, Marco Island has something to offer every angler. What's more, it doesn't cost visitors as much to fish on Marco Island as it does other places. That is why I recommend Marco Island to anyone who enjoys fishing.
